Atlas Copco today inaugurates a new facility for manufacturing exploration
products and rock reinforcment consumables in North Bay, Canada.
The operations, have been moved from the previous location in North Bay to the newly built factory.
A production line was added for Swellex rock bolts, a unique technology for rock reinforcement and
ground engineering.
The new facility is a one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art building that incorporates all the latest technology and tools into a true showcase of the innovations and progress continually being made in this fast growing industry.
The new production plant, which employs about 130 people, houses state of the art automated manufacturing equipment, ensuring consistency and reliability of the products. It was designed for reduced environmental impact in accordance with ISO 14001 standards.
“This facility has already furthered our reach and global output and we were
thrilled to show it off to our employees, mining industry peers, and the people of North Bay” said Jeff Hagar, GM Atlas
Copco Exploration Products.
The unveiling of the facility was organized as a three-day event to accommodate their different audience groups and agendas. The first day was reserved for senior management within the Atlas Copco Group and industry leaders, and included an authentic Northern Ontario experience for the numerous foreign delegates – a chartered train excursion to Temagami complete with food and entertainment.
The second day was reserved for Atlas Copco vendors and suppliers and included an outdoor lunch and facility tours, much like the third day, which was open to the public and included a barbeque, family entertainment and an inflatable playground.
